The music of this quintet reflects a style of jazz that is best described as "electric jazz" due to the use of Fender Rhodes and electric guitars in the overall presentation. In this type of music, the combination of different musical idioms creates a markedly willful group sound in which the improvisational dynamic stands out in the forefront of its delivery.
The group only plays original compositions
written by its members.
In february 1998 the Pascal Vermeer Quintet released its debut cd “Change of Sides” (Via Records), which was very well received by the Dutch jazz press.
In may 2000 the cd “I Am Not” (distribution Challenge Records) has been released. The cd release has been followed by a series of concerts at jazz clubs and festivals.
